Iraq, Egypt Discuss Ways To Enhance And Develop Trade And Industrial Cooperation

Baghdad / NINA /- Iraq and Egypt discussed ways to enhance and develop trade and industrial cooperation between the two countries. A statement by the Iraqi embassy in Cairo stated that the Iraqi ambassador in Cairo, its permanent representative to the Arab League, Ahmed Nayef al-Dulaimi, discussed with Nevin Jama, Minister of Trade and Industry in the Arab Republic of Egypt, ways to enhance and develop commercial and industrial cooperation between Iraq and Egypt, in light of the vigorous preparation and coordination to hold a meeting of the joint Iraqi-Egyptian Supreme Committee during the coming period, which is to be held in Baghdad between the prime ministers of the two countries. At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Al-Dulaimi conveyed the greetings and appreciation of the Iraqi Ministers of Trade and Industry and Minerals, Alaa Al-Jubouri and Manhal Aziz Al-Khabbaz, to their counterpart, wishing the brotherly Arab Republic of Egypt for continued progress and prosperity. During the meeting, Ambassador stressed that Iraq has now become an attractive arena for foreign companies and investments, especially after achieving the final victory over ISIS terrorist gangs, security stability and political openness to its regional and international surroundings, noting the importance of harmonizing the cooperation strategy between the two brotherly countries, explaining that coordination with Baghdad is underway to study the draft agreements and memoranda of understanding proposed by the Egyptian side, in order to reach the deadline for the meeting of the Supreme Committee decided to be held in Baghdad. Al-Dulaimi pointed out the importance of activating the land road between Egypt and Iraq to contribute to revitalizing the intra-trade movement between the two brotherly countries, as well as maximizing the benefit from the huge consumer market of Iraq, which exceeds 40 million consumers, noting the keenness of Iraq to promote joint economic cooperation between Egypt and Iraq, As part of the government's efforts to rebuild Iraq, expressing Iraq’s aspiration to seek the help of Egyptian companies, expertise and manpower to participate in reconstruction projects. In this context, the Egyptian Minister affirmed the keenness of the Egyptian government headed by Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly to convene the committee as soon as possible, as the joint committee is one of the most important mechanisms for activating cooperation between the two countries in many fields, including commercial and industrial, expressing her aspiration that the coming period witnesses a strengthening and upgrading of relations between Iraq and Egypt, and opening new horizons for them, reviewing the government's efforts on the economic track, especially in the industrial and commercial fields, stressing in the same context the importance of strategic cooperation between the two brotherly countries, which aims to increase areas of joint cooperation and exchange experiences in various commercial and industrial levels, adding that the recent presidential summit in the Jordanian capital, Amman, represents a pivot for activating joint Arab cooperation and achieving the hopes and aspirations of Arab peoples. For his part, the ambassador praised, during the meeting, the impressive successes achieved by the trade and industry sectors together, and the Egyptian efforts exerted in these two vital areas ./ End
