Indonesia Holds Climate Change Day at Doha COP18
Doha, December 02 (QNA) - Indonesia National Council on Climate Change held a one-day seminar and a two-day exhibition at La Cigale Hotel to showcase domestic policies, programs and concrete actions that have been carried out by Indonesian stakeholders.
The event entitled "Indonesia Climate Change Day" aimed at displaying progress undertaken in managing climate change challenges and opportunities. It also showed a good partnership among Indonesian stakeholders and international communities in responding to the enormous threat of climate change.
Indonesia is taking part in the18th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC and the 8th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol.
An Indonesian official speaking to Qatar News Agency highlighted the key role played by the Doha talks in the exchange of information, capacity building and political discussions and the global partnership, hoping that negotiators reach a final agreement during the second week of the conference.
Since 2007, Indonesia, he said, has played an important role in tackling the effects of climate change and will maintain that role in the future. He projected that global partnership and investments in low-carbon business will flourish in Indonesia. (QNA)
