Indonesia Explores Cooperation In Nursing With Australia
JAKARTA, Oct 27 (Antara) - A top Indonesian diplomat in Australia, who met with senior officials at the University of Western Sydney, has identified nursing as a key domain for further cooperation in education, particularly since Indonesia needs such paramedical experts.
Indonesian Consul General in Sydney Yayan GH Mulyana visited the Parramatta Campus at the University of Western Sydney where he met Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Scott Holmes and Dean of Graduate Research School Prof. James Arvanitakis, a press releases issued by the consulate and received here by Antara said on Wednesday.

Yayan discussed the progress being made by the Indonesian students studying at the university and various opportunities for cooperation in the field of education.
These could be between universities or universities and governments.
One of the areas where such cooperation could work successfully was identified as the field of nursing.
"Capacity building in the field of nursing is a real need in Indonesia. Nursing education is very advanced in Australia," Yayan noted, adding that University of Western Sydney is known as one of the leading higher education institutions in this field.
Currently, he added, this university figures among the top 50 universities in the world with nursing as a leading major.
"Our university is ready to expand cooperation in the field of nursing education with Indonesia," Holmes underlined.
Between 2013 and 2016, a total of 89 Indonesian students enrolled at the University of Western Sydney.
Of these, 17 students took up nursing and midwifery as majors.
In the context of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Australia, particularly with the resumption of Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA), nursing has been identified as one field where all sides came to an agreement promptly.
