HE the Prime Minister Urges Syrian Coalition to Shoulder its Responsibility

Cairo, November 12 (QNA) - HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani called on the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces to show to the world, to the Arab countries and to the Syrians that it bears the responsibility and deal with it efficiently, stressing at the same time that "we have a duty to support it financially, morally and politically." HE the Prime Minister said, in remarks to Al Jazeera TV, that the international community had a kind of lack of focus because of the differences between the opposition and because of lack of one body that can unite them and speak on their behalf and follow up the Syrian affairs until the Syrian people achieve what they admire to. He said that the first step has now been accomplished, adding that other steps will be how this new entity will continue. The international support for this new entity is available and the international recognition began to see the light, HE Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani said, revealing that there is an Arab-European meting to be held tomorrow, and that he had spoken with many and they will welcome this coalition. He said that the US had welcomed this new entity and considered it an important step. "Now this coalition must prove to the world, to the Arab states and to the Syrian people that it bears responsibility and that it is efficient and we also have a duty to support it financially, morally and politically." Asked about today's Arab ministerial meeting on Syria, HE Prime Minister and Foreign Minister said "after the agreement reached in Doha yesterday we came to frame this meeting after the issuance of a GCC statement, especially that there is the Arab-European meeting tomorrow", saying that in today's discussions two countries expressed reservations on one item of the resolution to be issued on Syria and this reservation related to the issue of the legitimate representative for the coalition, which was announced yesterday while the rest of the items were agreed upon. On the impact of such differences on international recognition for the Syrian Coalition, His Excellency said "I think that things are going on as normal. Undoubtedly we respect all the points of view and all the differences and we know that everyone is keen on Syria and the people of Syria." But since the beginning of this crisis twenty months ago there are two countries which have views in this matter and still stick to them, he said, adding that majority approved the decision and that will support the international efforts to recognize this new entity. HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani said that there will be an item in the Arab ministerial statement regarding intention to go to the Security Council to solve the Syrian crisis, adding, there is also the Geneva meeting that was held on 30 June last year. "We just want to make it clear what do we mean by the transition. For us it means a transfer of power and to set a timetable for the transfer of power and that's what we demand from the Security Council." His Excellency pointed out that this was discussed with joint Arab UN envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi, adding "we will give him time to crystallize a certain idea about this, especially after I met him today along with the head of new Syrian coalition and chairman of the Syrian national council George Sabra."
