Haniyeh Hails Egypt's Decision Allowing in Construction Materials for Qatari Reconstruction Projects in Gaza

Gaza, December 29 (QNA) - Deposed Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh has lauded Egypt's move allowing for the first time the construction materials to enter into the Gaza Strip via the Rafah crossing. The construction materials are intended for Qatari reconstruction projects in the Gaza Strip. Speaking during a meeting today with Egyptian and British medical delegations, Haniyeh said that the move was the culmination of contacts conducted by his government, Egyptian and Qatari officials. Earlier, a source at the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza said that the Egyptian Authorities decided to allow the entry of the first batch of the construction materials of the Qatari projects for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. The source explained that the construction materials will be allowed in via Rafah Crossing not Karam abu Salem Crossing. The State of Qatar offered 5 projects for the reconstruction of the besieged Gaza Strip during the historic visit paid by HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani on October 23. The projects include the construction of Sheikh Hamad Residential Town, Hamad Medical City, the reconstruction of three main streets in the Strip: Salahuddin Street, Al-Rashid Street and Al-Karama Street.
