FORUM OF PATRIOTS

Shymkent, June 4 (KHABAR) - The first republican forum of patriotscalled "My Kazakhstan" and organised by the "Nur Otan" People's Democratic Party in the South Kazakhstan region was aimed at finding new ways of fostering and strengthening Kazakh patriotism.

The organisers used a ceremonial rally sending a group of conscripts to the army as one of the graphic examples of nurturing the young generation.

WW II veterans, international war veterans and the "Nur Otan" party leadership have bid farewell to the conscripts. The rally participants laid flowers to the memorial and paid tribute to the soldiers who died in the war with a minute' s silence.

The forum also ascended to the Martobe hill and restaged the events which took place there at the beginning of the 18th century when the steppe parliament and the court, the legality and the statehood of Kazakhstan were formed. The forum delegates also visited the Kazhimukan museum, the Arystanbaba mausoleum and the Hojji Akhmet Yassaui memorialcomplex.

Mukhtar Yerman, secretary, "Nur Otan" People's Democratic Partyheadquarters: - We've started to look at the concept of holding such events from a slightly different angle. We try to arrange more open-air events.

We thought that as long as we are the people's party, we should work with the people in a more interesting and captivating way to show the deep roots of the notion of Kazakh patriotism.

As part of the forum Turkestan is to host a meeting focusing on Kazakh Patriotism as the Foundation of a Competitive Nation".
