First Responder training course held

Manama, Apr5(BNA)A training course on First Responder Initial Response to trans boundary border radioactive accidents started today in Bahrain. The Royal Academy of Police (RAP) and the Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) are coordinating the five-day training programme, in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The course aims at enhancing the preparedness of Bahraini First Responder Initial Response teams to deal with potential nuclear emergencies and protect people and the environment from radioactive pollutants. The five-day training course, which is based on the IAEA First Responder Initial Response Guide, features theoretical lectures and practical drills. The General Directorate of Civil Defence, the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) Anti-chemical Unit, National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM), the Ministry of Health and the Supreme Council for the Environment are taking part.
