Doha Hosts Knowledge Economy in GCC States Workshop

Doha, October 08 (QNA) - The General Secretariat for Development Planning (GSDP), in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), will hold a workshop on Knowledge Economy in the GCC states: Concept, Challenges, opportunities and Examining Qatari, GCC and relevant International Experiences. The two-day workshop will be held at the Four Seasons hotel in Doha on 10 11 October 2012. It will be attended by high ranking officials from the public and private sectors and representatives of some of the GCC universities. The workshop will consider the practical challenges of building a knowledge economy, highlighting strategic approaches and initiatives that are being executed in Qatar and in other GCC countries. Experts from the GCC General Secretariat, GCC countries, the World Bank, the Arab Planning Institute, the Kuwait Center for the Knowledge Based Economy and the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) will be presenting and sharing experiences. From Qatar, the General Secretariat for Development Planning(GSDP), Supreme Council for Communications and Information Technology (ictQATAR), Supreme Education Council (SEC), the Ministry of Business and Trade, Qatar Science and Technology Park, Qatar Enterprise, Qatar Center for Mobility Innovations, Qatar Chamber will all participate.
