Doha-Based Human Rights Center Organizes Workshop in Amman

Amman, December 25 (QNA) - The Doha-based United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Center for South West Asia and the Arab Region has organized the first training workshop for diplomats in Amman, in cooperation with the National Center for Human Rights in Jordan. Commissioner General for Human Rights in Jordan Mousa Breizat underlined the importance of this workshop as the first of its kind in the region. He also pointed to the important topic that would be discussed in the workshop which lay basis for the development of the Arab diplomatic work in the future. For his part, Head of the UN Human Rights Training and Documentation Center Dr. Ahmad al-Obeid stressed the importance of developing the Arab diplomatic work in the international human rights system by promoting awareness and understanding of human rights protection mechanisms and the important roles that diplomats can undertake to positively impact human rights. Experts in the field of human rights from the Middle East and North Africa are taking part in the training which will last till Thursday. The training workshop aims at presenting an approach based on the human rights of Arab diplomats, as part of the international and regional systems for the protection of human rights. It also seeks to promote the integration of human rights into the work of diplomacy and make diplomatic activities on human rights more effectively. (QNA)
