CPISP 2016 candidates selected

Manama, May 18 (BNA): The Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Programme (CPISP) announced the selection of the student candidates for its 2016 scholarships, and will begin their training, in cooperation with the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), starting June 27 and continuing throughout the summer. CPISP Director Dr. Cynthia Gessling affirmed that 70 candidates were selected out of a group of 321 applicants who met the Programme’s application criteria and submitted their applications before the deadline of 26 March 2015, and who took the qualifying tests that were administered by the CPISP in cooperation with BIBF last April. Dr. Gessling affirmed the candidates were selected based on their Grade Point Average and results of the qualifying tests, which included an English proficiency test in addition to critical reasoning assessment for verbal, numerical, and diagrammatical reasoning. She added that the candidates include students from private and governmental schools, in addition to qualifying students studying outside of Bahrain. Dr. Gessling stated the Candidacy training, which is part of the scholarship final selection criteria, will include a Critical Thinking course, leadership training, and preparation courses for the IELTS and SAT exams. To qualify for the Crown Prince’s 2016 scholarships, applicants must have Bahraini citizenship, a GPA of 97% or higher, be enrolled in the 11th grade and set to graduate from secondary school in 2016. Application for 2016 scholarships is now closed.
