Course on Refuting Media Campaigns Kicks Off in QNA

Doha, December 30 (QNA) - A training course on "Refuting Media Campaigns" kicked off in the headquarters of Qatar News Agency (QNA) on Sunday, in the course of a series of training courses organized by the Media Relations Department at QNA for the rehabilitation of cadres working in the media field. For the first time, the course will gather media persons from the GCC General Secretariat and the news agencies of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE and Oman. The course is also attended by 20 trainees from media and governmental bodies in Qatar such as the Information Office at the Emiri Diwan and the Information Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as trainees from Qatar News Agency. Director of the Media Relations Department at QNA Ahmad Mohammad al-Buainain opened the training course on behalf of QNA Director General. Al-Buainain expressed pleasure that media figures from the GCC countries are taking part in one of QNA training courses for the first time. He highlighted QNA keenness to engage the GCC media in the various activities and training courses organized by QNA, as part of the continued cooperation and coordination among the GCC news agencies aiming at improving the GCC joint media action. He noted that trainees in the course will gain new mechanisms and skills on how to respond to media campaigns through uncovering facts in a professional and objective manner. For his part, Director of the Technical Affairs Department at QNA Eng. Khalid al-Mutawaa gave a brief explanation on the latest technology used in QNA, in addition to the new applications which QNA developed for smart phones and tablets devices. The tree-day course aims to present the best ways to refute media campaigns. It will discuss three main ideas: propaganda, press campaigns and Refuting media campaigns. The course will be lectured by Fawzi Bushra, a Sudanese journalists who has been working in Al-Jazeera Channel since 1997 and has distinctive contributions to the development of broadcast journalism.
