Commander of the French National Gendarmerie Confers Medal Upon Lakhwiya Commander

Doha, October 09 (QNA) - Deputizing for the French defence and interior ministers, Director of the French National Gendarmerie Maj. Gen. Jacques Mignaud today conferred upon HE the Minister of State for Internal Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the French National Gendarmerie medal , in his capacity as commander of the Internal Security Force (Lakhwiya). HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, received the medal during a ceremony held at the Internal Security Force's pavilion in Milipol Qatar 2012, which opened yesterday at Doha Exhibition Centre. He is the first security official in a GCC state to get this high-level order in recognition of his role in the achievement of joint projects with the French National Gendarmerie. This medal, which the tradition of its giving began 63 years ago, is conferred yearly upon 40 persons from the 130,000 strong French National Gendarmerie who have made sacrifices and achieved victories for their country as well as French citizens and non-French persons who have contributed the big achievements in the implementation of joint projects with the French National Gendarmerie French. HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani gave a speech on this occasion in which he expressed his thanks, pride and appreciation for this medal. He added that cooperation between Lakhwiya and the French Gendarmerie is ongoing and evolving and ''we are reaping a lot of its fruits, pointing out that the training and academic courses are pillars of this cooperation and true partnership. He stressed that further cooperation between the two sides until continue until 2022 and beyond.(QNA)
