Bahrain set to participate effectively in summit

Manama, May 13 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister will lead the Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation to the GCC-US Summit in Camp David on May 13-14. His Royal Highness will meet US President Barack Obama during the summit to discuss bilateral ties, regional and international issues of shared concern. The summit will discuss key topics pertaining to the region's security and stability, resolution of conflicts which caused disorder and instability in addition to exploration of increased cooperation in various fields between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)-members and the United States of America. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, stressed that the participation of HRH Crown Prince Salman demonstrates His Majesty’s keenness for the Kingdom of Bahrain to be fully engaged in participating in this historic summit. The Minister made clear that HRH the Crown Princeis the ideal representative of His Majesty the King at the summit, to convey and present His Majesty’s directives and views to further bolster friendly relations between GCC states and the United States of America, and to discuss means of further cooperation and joint work in order to address the current delicate situation and developments in the region, and to maintain regional security and stability. The minister said Bahrain is keen to strengthen its deep-rooted ties of friendship with the United States at all levels, expressing his hope for a successful Camp David summit that further develops the strategic ties and multifaceted relations in various fields between the GCC and the US, for the benefit of all states and peoples in the region, and to help secure a more prosperous future for all.
