Al Mansouri Appointed CEO of Qatar Exchange

Doha, October 03 (QNA) - The Board of Qatar Exchange (QE) has decided to appoint Rashid Bin Ali Al-Mansoori as CEO of Qatar Exchange in succession to its former CEO Mr. Andre Went. Dr. Hussain Ali Al Abdulla, Acting Chairman of QE s Board, stated that the appointment of Al-Mansoori as the CEO of Qatar Exchange comes in line with the general policy of the State of Qatar in terms of appointing highly-qualified Qataris in leading positions in government and semi government institutions. Acting Chairman of QE s Board further said that the selection of Al-Mansoori, made during the QE meeting held here earlier Tuesday, October 2nd 2012, was based on his vast and long administrative and technical experience since he occupied various positions and supervised numerous successful initiatives and projects, besides one and a half year experience as Deputy CEO in Qatar Exchange and previous experience in Qatar Investment Authority and QE s Board membership. Dr. Al Abdulla appreciated the efforts of the former CEO Mr. Andre Went during the past period following the signing of the strategic partnership with NYSE Euronext on June 19th 2009, adding that Mr. Went will remain working with QE as a strategic advisor in order to benefit from his vast experience in capital markets. Dr. Al Abdulla highlighted QE s achievements during the comprehensive transformation process following the signing of the strategic partnership with NYSE Euronext three years ago. He added that QE was able, during this period, to develop its infrastructure and regulatory environment benefiting from the expertise of professional leaders and experts who transformed QE into a world class exchange working in accordance with the best international practices in this regard. It is worth mentioning that Rashid Bin Ali Al-Mansoori holds a BSc degree in Computer and Management Sciences (USA 1987). Al-Mansoori has specialized expertise in the fields of administration, IT and financial services. He served as IT Director at the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) where he was responsible for establishing the IT department and setting investment and financial system applications. He also served as IT Director at Qatar Olympics Committee and the Head of Applied Systems at the Ministry of Interior. He also worked in leading financial positions in the refining department of Qatar Petroleum. Al-Mansoori is currently a member of QFC s Board and served as a board member in various Qatari companies and institutions, including Qatar Exchange, Dlala Brokerage and other governmental institutions.
