Al Attiyah Presides Over General Session of UN Climate Change COP18

Doha, December 03 (QNA) - His Excellency Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah Chairman of the United Nations Climate Change COP 18 presided over the general session held at the Qatar National Convention Center on Tuesday. He urged heads of participating organizations and countries groups to work continuously to discuss pending technical issues to find solutions and reach at an agreement acceptable to all, before the end of the conference. He added that he asked chief delegates to wind up their discussions by mid-day Tuesday, noting that progress is underway. He said that he chose Brazilian and Norwegian officials to open up an unofficial conduit in cooperation with the team working on Kyoto Protocol and to assess the resolutions issued by parties to the protocol which may need additional commitments in the second phase of the protocol. He urged all parties for cooperation in the coming four days to arrive at the cherished objectives. (QNA)
