Al-Alak, A UN official Discuss Challenges Facing The Iraqi Govt. in Post-Daesh, And Displaced Return

BAGHDAD, Iraq (NINA) - Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Mahdi Al-Alak discussed with the Deputy Special Representative for Political Affairs and Electoral Assistance of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) Ms. Alice Wolbol the challenges facing the Iraqi government in the post-Daesh, the foremost the return of the displaced. The Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Mahdi Al-Alak received, this morning in his office in Baghdad, Deputy Special Representative for Political Affairs and Electoral Assistance of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq, Ms. Alice Wolbol, welcoming her to start her new functions in Iraq. They reviewed the two most important challenges facing the Iraqi government in post-Daesh stage and the most important priority for the government in the current period is the return of the displaced people, supporting stability and providing basic services, which contribute to facilitating the return of the displaced to their liberated areas, especially the city of Mosul due to the extent of the destruction caused by Daesh. " The Secretary-General highlighted the success of the Iraqi Government, with the support of the United Nations, in the implementation of good projects including drinking water, electricity and sanitation, which encouraged displaced families to return to their homes, added that more that 75% of displaced returned to their homes in Ramadi. The Secretary-General stressed the importance and the need to achieve community reconciliation between the spectrums and components of Nineveh Plain, stressing the determination of the government to establish a reconciliation conference in the area to heal the rift that affected the social fabric in the region and put them on track to ensure their unity and brotherhood. For her part, Ms. Wolbol praised the efforts of the Iraqi leadership in rebuilding and stabilizing the liberated areas and facilitating the return of displaced persons, stressing the continued support and cooperation of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq, praising the great victories achieved by the Iraqi security forces in its war against Daesh terrorist gangs./ End
