THAI Airways to launch biofuel flights

BANGKOK, December 10 (TNA) - In an attempt to cut back on greenhouse gas emissions, and in line with government plans of alternative energy use for the country, THAI Airways International will launch biofuel commercial flights beginning this month. President of THAI Airways Piyasvasti Amranand, said THAI Airways will be the first airline to use bio jet fuel in Southeast Asia. Piyasvasti said the flights will begin on December the 22nd on its TG 104 which flies the Bangkok-Chiang Mai route. He said passenger fees collected on the day will be donated to alternative energy development organisations in Thailand. Around 100 students and teachers will also be invited to travel on the debut flight, he added. (TNA)
