Uzbekistan completes passenger terminal at Navoi airport

Uzbekistan, Tashkent, June 8 / Trend D. Azizov / Uzbekistan Airways has completed the reconstruction of the passenger terminal at the airport in the city of Navoi, the air carrier said on Friday. According to information, the new airport terminal received its first passengers. The project worth $5.5 million is implemented under a project to build on the base of the Navoi airport an international intermodal logistics center. The prime contractor for construction is Prommontazhspetsstroy. The project was funded through the airline's own funds. In total, until 2016 Uzbekistan Airways will direct $83 million on the modernization of the Navoi international airport. In particular, by the end of this year, the national airline plans to complete construction of a centralized fueling system at the Navoi airport worth $35 million. In addition, it's planned to build at the airport new parking lots for heavy aircraft Boeing-747, to set the second glide-path system for landing, to buy additional machinery, and to expand the hotel.
