URGENT: Iraq's Reconstruction Conference Begins In Kuwait

KUWAIT (NINA) - Kuwait's reconstruction conference began this morning with the convening of a high-level meeting of experts on Iraq's reconstruction program and the role of institutions for financing. Director General of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development Abdulwahab Al-Bader will review in a report on Monday part of the Fund's contribution in general and what this humanitarian mission can contribute to. The Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, Mahdi Al-Alaq reviews the extent of the destruction suffered by the Iraqi cities and villages and the funds needed for reconstruction followed by a detailed report by, Mustafa Al-Hiti, head of the Reconstruction Fund for the areas affected by terrorist operations, followed by the director of Iraqi Fund for Social and economic Council with a report on the Fund's potential for reconstruction. In a report, Minister of Planning, Salman Al-Jumaili reviewed some of the reform programs prepared by the Iraqi government and the assessment of the size of the losses and needs with the presentation of factual films about the destruction suffered in Iraqi cities. The European Commission, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Mediterranean and Middle East Department of the French Agency for Development (AFD) are reviewing the humanitarian aspects of the reconstruction and concluding the recommendations of the joint committees and their proposals for reconstruction. On the other hand, the NGO Conference will also begin to support the humanitarian situation in Iraq, where the humanitarian situation and humanitarian response efforts in Iraq will be presented as well as the role of civil society in the reconstruction of Iraq and rebuilding confidence among the members of society.
