Toyota's Agent in Qatar Recalls 13,000 Cars to Fix Power Window Problem
Doha, , October 14 (QNA) -The Qatari Ministry of Business and Commerce said on Sunday it had received a letter from Toyota's agent in Qatar advising that the company will recall a number of cars of various models to fix a power window problem that poses a fire risk.
On Oct 10, Toyota announced a global recall of 7.43 million cars.
Sheikh Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani, Director of Consumer Protection said that the recall will include between 12 to 13 thousand cars in Qatar, including 3210 Corollas manufactured between 2006 and 2010, 8045 Camrys
of 2010, 146 Sequoias 2007 to 2008, 741 Yaris 2006 to 2010.
Abdullah Abdul Ghani Company, Toyota's agent in Qatar, said fixing the problem which does not pose any safety or security risk or lead to engine malfunction, would take 45 minutes.
The Japanese automaker said earlier that the driver's side power window switch on some models may feel "notchy" or sticky during operation. The problem is caused by an uneven application of grease during the switch assembly process, and if commonly available lubricants are applied, a fire could result under some circumstances.
No accidents or deaths have resulted from the problem, the company said. (QNA)
