Milipol Qatar Expo Set to Open Monday in Doha

Doha, October 07 (QNA) - The Ninth edition of Milipol Qatar, the internal security exhibition, to be held under the patronage of HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is all set to open at the Doha Exhibition Centre here Monday. Milipol Qatar Committee President Brigadier Nasser bin Fahad Al Thani and has said all preparation have been completed as per schedule for the expo which will see the participation of 265 companies from 38 countries. Eleven countries are featuring in the expo for the first time. This three-day edition of Milipol features eight pavilions - American pavilion (America, Canada), German Pavilion (Germany, Switzerland and Austria), Czech, French, Brazilian, Pakistani, Jordan and the UAE pavilion. French and UAE pavilions are the largest in size, organisers said. Among exhibitors from Europe, the United Kingdom is showcasing over ten companies, some exhibiting for the first time, others returning following a successful exhibition in 2010, the Press Office of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) said. Senior representatives from the UKTI's Security Directorate will be present to advise visitors on a range equipment and capabilities in the UK's security sector, a UKTI official said and added, "Some of these companies have already been successful in supplying equipment to countries all over the world including recent major sporting events". Senior Police Adviser in UKTI's Security Directorate Richard Freeman is leading the UK delegation. "MILIPOL 2012 is an excellent opportunity for companies in the UK security sector to showcase their capabilities," said Freeman. "It is also an important for companies to look at joint venture opportunities. "This sector is very competitive and while the UK makes world leading products it must continue to offer world class service at a competitive price. The UK must build on the success of the Olympic and Paralympics Games and companies who were successful in offering services for these outstanding events must look to offering their expertise overseas, especially to countries hosting major sporting events." UK companies exhibiting include: Airwave Solutions, Digital Barriers, Heckler & Koch GB, Plowman Craven, L-3 ASA, CNL Software, XSMG. Companies being exhibited the UK's Export Support Team include Inmarsat, Wood and Douglas, Survitec and VIT Security Group. The UK also has considerable expertise in offering innovative solutions to major sporting events around the world, the UKTI said and added, UK's security exports achieved over ?2.5 Billion for the first time in 2011 and the UK is the fifth most successful security solutions and equipment exporter.
