Individuals’ loans make up 50.6 percent of total outstanding loans
Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. The national currency in circulation reached MNT 991.5 billion at the end of December 2020, increased by MNT 43.8 billion (4.6%) from the previous month, and increased by MNT 94.1 billion (10.5%) from the previous year.
At the end of December 2020, the time deposit in domestic currency amounted to MNT 13.4 trillion, increased by MNT 909.4 billion (7.3%) from the previous month, and increased by MNT 2.2 trillion (20.1%) from the previous year.
The composition of the total time deposit in domestic currency shows that 89.0 percent (MNT 11.9 trillion) were individuals’ deposits and 11.0 percent (MNT 1.5 trillion) were entities deposits.
The time deposits in foreign currency amounted to MNT 4.6 trillion, decreased by MNT 125.9 billion (2.6%) from the previous month, but increased by MNT1.2 trillion (33.2%) from the same period of the previous year.
At the end of December 2020, the total amount of outstanding loans to entities and individuals amounted to MNT 17.2 trillion, increased by MNT 205.7 billion (1.2%) from the previous month while it is decreased by MNT 889.2 billion (4.9%) from the previous year. In the total outstanding loans, MNT 8.7 trillion (50.6%) was individual loans.
The performing loans reached MNT 13.9 trillion at the end of December 2020, increased by MNT 118.8 billion (0.9%) from the previous month, while it is decreased by MNT 1.5 trillion (9.8%) from the same period of the previous year. The performing loans amounted to 80.9% of the total loans and decreased by 4.4 percentage points from the previous year.
At the end of December 2020, the principals in arrears amounted to MNT 1.3 trillion, increased by MNT 90.0 billion (7.6%) from the previous month, and increased by MNT 445.4 billion (54.1%) from the same period of the previous year. The principals in arrears make up to 7.4% of the total loans, increased by 2.8 percentage points from the same period of the previous year.
At the end of December 2020, the non-performing loans in the banking system amounted to MNT 2.0 trillion, which decreased by MNT 3.1 billion (0.2%) from the previous month, but it showed an increase of MNT 184.5 billion (10.1%) compared to the previous year. The non-performing loans in the banking system make up to 11.7% of the total loans, increased by 1.6 percentage points from the previous year.
