IISS Middle East appoints new managing director

Manama, Apr. 5. (BNA) -- The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) recently appointed a new managing director for its Middle East branch, based in the Kingdom of Bahrain. IISS Middle East Executive Director said in a statement: "I am delighted to announce the arrival of a new Managing Director in our Middle East office, Mr. Katadah Abdul Hameed Zaman." Notably, Mr. Zaman is the first local resource to fill this vacancy. Katadah has a BA (Hons) in Aviation Marketing Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida and over 14 years of highly relevant management experience in both the public and private sectors. He previously worked for the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) in a number of roles for a variety of programmes, including Investor Relationships, Events, Protocol and Project Management. He also worked on Economic and Labour Market Reforms before shifting to Special Projects, where he was responsible for Social/Political Projects, Business Intelligence and Analysis. His responsibilities in the latter post included project management and providing risk analysis to the Board. Katadah’s posts in the private sector include Marketing and Business Development, with responsibility for administration and operations, setting up offices, budgetary oversight, and interaction with investors and other key project stakeholders, as well as event organisation. He also brings a wide range of contacts with him from senior levels down in Bahrain and more widely in the GCC. Jenkins added: "All of this hugely strengthens our capacity as we prepare for this year’s big events, including the Manama Dialogue and the Middle East Geo-economics Forum." "This appointment will underpin everything we want to achieve in the next few years, mainly by organising efforts to engage key clients and stakeholders, attract new business and press ahead with our ambitious research plans." Said Jenkins, adding that, "We shall work together on building our regional membership base – another major objective, and there is always more to do. But we are getting there." He stressed that, "This step is fundamental, and with immediate effect, Katadah will be our principal point of contact for all corporate, financial, HR, operational and organisational matters."
