Azerbaijani PashaBank, British Council announces winners of essay contest

Azerbaijan, Baku, June 21 /Trend A.Hasanov/
Azerbaijani PashaBank and the British Council defined seven winners from among 92 participants of essay contest which was conducted during April-May 2012.
"The British Council cooperates with the bank in several projects and the objective of this project was to improve young people's role in the economy of Azerbaijan," director of the British Council Paul Klementson told reporters on Thursday at the ceremony of the award winners.
"The Azerbaijani economy is developing very rapidly and we want its youth to be part of this development," Klementson said.
Chairman of the board of PashaBank Farid Akhundov, in turn, noted the importance of these projects to the economy of Azerbaijan.
"We know that an educated, literate youth is the future of our country, so we supported this project," Akhundov said.
He noted that the bank also supports projects related to the professional development of journalists writing about the banking sector and work with the State Committee on Securities (SCS) of Azerbaijan in this field.
The participants of the contest had to write an essay in English on three themes: The future of the world - economic development or economic security, the three main global issues at the moment and global mind-set - youth participation in the economic development of Azerbaijan.
